Time for Rejuvenation…

For several years, I’ve had on my “bucket list” to see the Sandhill cranes … and it finally became a reality this year!

These amazing, beautiful birds migrate from Mexico and stop along the Platte River near Kearney, Nebraska to re-fuel (eat corn and get water) and rest for approximately six weeks before beginning to fly to Canada and Alaska for their final northern destination.

Luckily, I have a dear Aunt who lives in the area where they land and rejuvenate. I picked up another Aunt in Omaha and we made the trek together. It was so much fun! And it reminded me that women who are doing healing work need to take time out to explore nature, get rejuvenated and connect with family members who are near and dear to us. All of this is very important self-care. Are you taking time to rejuvenate?

Licensing CDs for Hospital Use

In the past 30 days, I have had several hospitals ask to license three of my CDs (Calm as the Night, The Healing Journey, and Blessings to You) and use them on their closed-circuit TV systems. This is a very cost-effective way to provide your patients and their families with relaxing, therapeutic harp music.

If you would like more details, please contact me.

Featuring “The Christmas Story”

This week we are letting you know about one of my Christmas CDs called “The Christmas Story.” It was recorded on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in 2001. Since most Christmas music on the market is recorded in the summer (so it’s available in time for the holidays), I have always known that this CD had the holiday spirit infused in a very magical way.

The Daily OM listened to this CD and wrote a review. I am humbled by their beautiful words…

Review by Daily OM:

“Harpist Tami Briggs is a sound healer whose angelic, gentle playing bypasses all resistance to touch the root chord of the human soul. She honed her healing skill via personal appearances at hospitals and hospices, bringing her soothing sounds right up to the beds of those most in need. Bringing her knowledge of healing into the recording studio, Briggs makes harp music that’s simple, sweet, and deeply soothing. Embracing a less-is-more strategy, The Christmas Story interprets classic holiday standards into gentle solo-harp pieces, potent enough to hush a room of chatting relatives, relaxing enough to play in a child’s bedroom to help them fall asleep on Christmas Eve. And if you should find yourself alone for the holidays, Briggs becomes an angelic friend, her music a shimmering presence rooting you back to humanity.

Capturing the vibe of a live performance, The Christmas Story offers audio quality sharp enough to give the illusion that Briggs is playing right in the same room as you mull through your presents or nap on the couch in a sea of torn wrapping paper….The CD wraps up with the feeling of belonging to something larger than oneself, as Briggs’ gentle touch with the harp suffused even her frequent impassioned glissandos with warmth. More than just a bunch of carols played on the harp, Briggs skirts in and around the familiar melodies with the finesse of a jazz soloist, albeit one with no agenda of showing off chops, but rather of hitting all the right notes to warm the back of your neck and open your heart. Put on The Christmas Story when you need a gentle reminder of what the holidays are about: peace, love, and spiritual regeneration.”

A beautiful Christmas message…

Last year on Christmas Day, I received the following e-mail:

“My best friend passed away this morning. She was in the hospital unresponsive. I had taken your “Christmas Music for Tranquility” CD to her yesterday; her family played it early this morning. The whole CD played and as the CD player shut off, my friend took her last breath. Her daughters told me it was beautiful. I’m getting a CD for both of the daughters. Thank you for your beautiful music.”

I am deeply touched and humbled by this beautiful message. I feel so blessed to create music that touches your heart and soul.

Watching harp videos

One of the comments that I hear a lot when I’m out and about playing is, “I love to watch your hands.” If you would like to watch and listen to me play the harp, there are many videos “sprinkled” throughout Musical Reflections’ new website.  Click here to view or you can visit my YouTube channel (don’t forget to subscribe and you will receive an e-mail every time I post a new video). Here’s to your relaxation … ahhhhhhh!

A Free Holiday Movie

With the purpose of bringing peace to your holidays and a mini-retreat, Musical Reflections created a movie called “The Gift of Christmas Peace.” After much positive feedback, it is a joy to bring it back to you again to help you reduce your stress. And feel free to share it with your friends, too.

It features “Pachelbel’s Canon/The First Noel,” the first song on my Christmas Music for Tranquility CD. You can download the song or complete CD or if you prefer to purchase the actual CD, click here.

Or click here to view the movie on YouTube. (And while you’re on my YouTube channel, there are many other videos to view. There are also other videos on this website … enjoy!)

Wishing you holiday peace,

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Happy Thanksgiving message from Tami Briggs (Musical Reflections’ founder) –

Thanksgiving is a favorite time to reflect on all of the things I’m grateful for.  I love to think about five things everyday. And for the year, I’m deeply grateful for:

  • Your continued support, as well as your feedback, ideas and encouragement.
  • All of the patients and families who allow me into their lives at a most vulnerable time of illness.
  • The healthcare staff at the numerous hospitals where I’ve had the opportunity to play for those they serve.
  • The opportunity to speak and play in front of thousands at healthcare conferences, sharing the special message of music and healing.
  • Sharing my music with thousands on my website, as well as through retail shops and stores – on CDs, downloads, DVDs and via the AMMM Machine.
  • The hundreds of people who follow me on Twitter (@HarpForHealing) and the wonderful people I am following. It is a window into people’s lives all over the world. I would never have this opportunity to connect without these unique technical programs.
  • Time to enjoy my parents this week, as well as prepare for the very busy month of December.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving!
