When Violence Strikes – Got Music? (Part I)

Stop ViolenceEvery time a violent act occurs, I’m shocked, saddened, questioning why, grief-stricken. I am no different than anyone else.

Now, we have social media tools, such as Facebook and Twitter, to process our emotions “out loud,” and reach out to comfort and soothe each other. After these brutal events, I scroll through my Facebook stream and I notice many posts of music. We turn to music during these painful, challenging times.

Musicians have a powerful voice. As Arthur Schopenhauer says, “Music is the answer to the mystery of life … it expresses the deepest thoughts of life and being; a simple language which nonetheless cannot be translated.” And Hazbat Inayat Khan said, “There is nothing better than music as a means for upliftment of the soul.” Perhaps this is why we turn to music and the much-needed message from musicians’ during these times of inexplicable violence. It was Charles Munch who said, “Music is an art that expresses the inexpressible.”

Sing on … play on … shine on musicians … thanking each of you with deep gratitude.

As we reflect on the year ahead, we are consciously choosing to “ramp up,” but in a very mindful way. Our selected focus word for 2018 is gratitude. And over the next few days, we will be setting our yearly intentions. Have you created your list yet?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy ThanksgivingAll month long we celebrate the holiday of gratitude – Thanksgiving! (The actual date is Nov. 23 this year.) We hope you have time to reflect on all your many blessings that connect you to feeling grateful. We are aware we have so much to be thankful for:

  • Our gigs where we’ve had an opportunity to share our harp music, passion and message.
  • Our customers who continue to purchase books and CDs, and use our products to support their journey.
  • Our addendum BioMat business and all the wonderful people we’ve had an opportunity to connect with and help in their healing journeys.
  • Our learning from the first two Virtual Harp Summits.
  • Our re-connection this past summer with the harp therapy community (International Harp Therapy Program’s regional conference).
  • Our flexible schedule so that I can be present to my aging parents.
  • On and on the list goes …

So, you can see, we have much to be in gratitude. How about you?

100 Days of Miracles

100 Days of MiraclesWe recently completed a “course” called 100 Days of Miracles. It is actually a game with three mini decks of cards to draw daily–angels, butterflies, and peacocks. You may ask why these three symbols? The developer, Jean Berry, of the Business Miracle Academy, shares, “Angels are reflective of the inner work that we do to create a successful business, peacocks symbolize the outer work and butterflies are all about collaboration.”

So, for 100 days, it was a daily draw. We loved the messages and the action steps from each of the three cards. As we completed these items, it really moved our work/life forward…a lot!! And yes, we experienced miracles upon miracles, and we are grateful.

And now we recognize why only 100 days…why not keep going to manifest more dreams coming true?!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving - 2I love the Thanksgiving holiday, do you? It is a much simpler holiday than Christmas …

  • Thanksgiving is not about gift-giving, but gratitude for our bountiful gifts!
  • There’s not “pressure” of extra Christmas baking and goody-making, yet a delicious meal with family gathered.
  • No massive house transformations with Christmas decorations, but tasteful autumn décor.

Here’s wishing you and your family a beautiful holiday filled with gratitude…Happy Thanksgiving!

Appreciating your continued support…

SupportFor the past 15 years (yes, really!), I’ve been blessed to do the work that I am most passionate about, as well as know it’s my deepest purpose for being on the planet at this time. I am most grateful … and I couldn’t do it without your continued support. Thank you!

Here’s a partial list:

  • To all the contacts who say “Yes, let’s do a presentation!” including Iowa Parkinson’s, Summer Institute of Holistic Health and Healing, Mayo Clinic’s Holistic Wellness, Annual Family Caregiver Appreciation, Couples Celebrating Life, Summer Eve of Music, Bacon Club, Day for Cancer Care Providers and many others. Special moments … special memories!
  • To those who ordered “Holiday Blessings” card/CD. Anytime I introduce a new idea/CD, it always feels like a risk. I am humbled by many people who always say “YES!” to my ideas!
  • This past year, I have been much more intentional on having a presence on Facebook, LinkedInTwitter and YouTube. I am amazed at the number of friends, connections, followers … be sure to join in the fun if you haven’t already!
  • To my wonderful team of BioMat distributors. I have loved getting to know you, as well as watching you grow and evolve as you share this wonderful product to help so many others. WOW!
  • For my customers who order CDs and downloads every month to bring relaxation, comfort, peace and calm to your families and those you serve.

I’m deeply passionate about spreading healing, hope and relaxation. Let me know if you have contacts that you think I need to connect with … it would be my pleasure!

Daily Suggestions…

Calm & TrustI write two blogs (yes, one isn’t enough!!!). After I posted the below list on the other blog (www.WomenAsHealers.com), I had many e-mail responses saying how much they loved this list. So, I decided to post it here, too … enjoy!

  1. Pray.
  2. Go to bed on time.
  3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
  4. Say “No!” to projects that don’t fit into your schedule.
  5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
  6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
  7. Remember:  Less is often more.
  8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places (so true with traffic).
  9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time.
  10. Take one day at a time.
  11. Live within your budget; don’t use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
  12. Be proactive.
  13. Do something for your inner child each day.
  14. Carry a spiritually enlightening book with you to read while waiting.
  15. Get enough rest.
  16. Eat right.
  17. Get organized so everything has its place.
  18. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life..
  19. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
  20. Every day, find time to be alone.
  21. Laugh.
  22. Laugh some more! (Love this!!)
  23. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
  24. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
  25. Talk less; listen more.
  26. Slow down.
  27. Every night before bed, think of five things you are grateful for and make sure one is something you’ve never mentioned before.

Great list, isn’t it? Which of the above is your favorite?

Happy Thanksgiving!

This holiday is a special time to reflect on gratitude. Here’s a few things I am deeply grateful for:

  • Your continued support.
  • Continuing to play bedside vigils at a local hospital.
  • Sharing the special message of music, hope and healing at numerous healthcare conferences throughout the year.
  • Sharing my music with thousands via this website and in retail stores.
  • Having an opportunity to be with my family at this special time.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving!
